South Africa

Sun City

Located in South Africa's North West Province, but only 2-hours drive from Johannesburg, Sun City is a vibrant mix of

entertainment, water sports, golf, gambling and family fun - a lush and tropical fantasyland deep in the African bushveld.

Sun City has a holiday experience for everyone from affordable family fun to the height of luxury. Your day can include

visits to the resort; casino, game drives, Valley of the Waves, or even a round of golf on one of its world famous golf

courses!

De Wildt Cheetah Centre

Located in the foothills of the Magaliesburg on a 54 hectare former farm, was officially opened on the 16th April 1971.

At this time there were approximately 700 cheetahs in South Africa and there had been little or no success with

breeding cheetahs in captivity where limited research had been conducted on engendered species.

picture2 picture5 pict4

The Sanctuary's primary aim was to create a captive breeding program for endangered species. The centre is a

privately owned non-profit non-governmental organization. In 1986, the cheetah was removed from the South African

Red Data Book for endangered species. This was largely due to the success of this breading program with 600 cubs

being born since the centre's inception. Today, the efforts of the program are focused on conservation, not only with

breeding, but also with conflict resolution between free roaming cheetahs preying on livestock on privately owned

farms.

Enjoy a guided tour in an open safari vehicle with experienced and qualified guides. By visiting the cheetah centre you

will gain an understanding of the powerful abilities of the cheetah, their habits, nature as well as their struggle for

survival in the wild. View the king cheetah, with its characteristic striped back, one of the rarest animals on earth.

Also on the tour you will encounter the African Wild Dog - close up. The most endangered mammal in the world with

no more than 5500 wild dogs in all of Africa. Most fearsome and effective hunter in the wild. Killing almost daily as

a pack. The Wild Dog - "painted wolf" with colouring as unique as our finger prints. This is an educational adventure

of wildlife preservation. Guests will encounter the endangered species at the centre at close quarters.

Lesedi, which is seSotho for 'light', was initiated in 1995 as a tourist attraction and today features five traditional

dwellings, each representing a South African culture: Pedi, Zulu, Xhosa, Basotho and Ndebele. Each of these families

lives here permanently, looking after cows, chickens and tourists, and tours through their homes offer interesting

cross-cultural comparisons of the customs and social organization of the different cultures.

Zulu, Basotho, Xhosa and Pedi homesteads, after a multi-visual presentation.

The Nyama Choma restaurant offers a Pan African Buffet in true African style, after which visitors are invited to gather

around a fire to share in some ‘mamba juice’, a unique Lesedi drink, before the story telling and singing and dancing

begin.

Adjacent to Sun City is the beautiful Pilanesberg National Park - one of the largest in South Africa and also a malaria

free zone. The park covers an area of 55 000-hectares and its plains are rich and fertile as they were once part of a

now extinct volcanic crater. Majestic hills encircle the park and a large central watering hole is ideal for game viewing.

The park is found in the transition zone of the Kalahari and the Lowveld, and therefore both types of vegetation are

found.

    Great White Shark Cage Diving

Sharks are quite possibly the world's most feared animals. From the smallest sand shark to the enormous whale shark,

they are sleek, muscled, and some are almost as agile as a dolphin. There is no doubt that they are the most evolved

predators in the ocean! Row upon row of teeth and capable of sensing the blood of an injured animal from over a

kilometer away, its not surprising that they are the most feared creature beneath the waves. And of them all, the Great

White is the most awesome. Now, dive and meet a Great White Shark, face to face - and on your own terms!
